Sam’s Seniors: Ely Fair, Oklahoma City Photographers

Ryan and I had so much fun spending the afternoon with Sam and her mom. She is so incredible sweet, and OH MY GOODNESS, how gorgeous is she? As I have complained mentioned in my last post, the weather hasnt’ been so sunny the past week. But as I was chatting with mom, my favorite text I received was “Sam is so pretty, she’ll be easy to make look good even in cloudy weather!” and she couldn’t have been more right. Simply a beautiful girl, inside and out.

Good luck with rest of Senior year, and for your college days ahead! xoxoely

Sweet Sophie: Ely Fair, Oklahoma City Photographer

The weather man had predicted rain. But it seemed like it was going to hold off, even giving moments of sunshine as I peeked out the window through-out the day. Yet as I jumped in the car and got closer and closer to our location, the sky seemed to become more and more foreboding. And then there it was…drip…drip…in comes the rain. Not for long, just enough to stress me out and make the skies gray.

I feel like I’ve been fighting with the sun to show her face over the past month. But I am enjoying the cooler weather so I’m not going to complain (much). Although I am missing my sun flare shots, the next best thing on a dreary day was a photo shoot with Sophie. Seriously, that little smile can bring sunshine into anyones day. :)

One of my favorite things about Sophie is that she says ‘no’ to everything. Even when she means yes. So we would ask her if she wanted to go on a walk, and she would enthusiastically say “no!” And we would ask her if she wanted some M&Ms (or in her case M&M&Ms), and she would perk up and tell us “no!”

Out of control precious.

I hope that the Easter bunny brought lots of M&M&Ms Sophie! xoxoely

That Moment: Ely Fair, Dallas Wedding Photographers

So I always do a second run through all wedding pics when I’m close to being finished with editing a wedding. There are so many sweet moments that I want to make sure we have caught them all. When I was doing my second run through of Liz & Adam’s wedding, I ran across this one and it may be one of my favorites.

I know it’s a little grainy. And I know that the focus is actually on her hair and not her face. But I love it because I know this was “That Moment”. The moment that she was able to get around the standing people beaming at her, and she and Adam connected for the first time. I can see from the side of her face all of the joy gushing from her as she was walking down the aisle to start her life together with him. And I love that.

Sam’s Senior Session Sneak Peek: Ely Fair, Oklahoma City Photographer

May I Introduce To You….

The new face of Ely Fair Photography! Let me tell you, this has been in the works for almost 6 months now! It is really fun to see my design for the site be put into functioning form. I really wanted to have something that was easy to navigate and reflected us as a company.

Here is the overview of design– we got rid of the landing page and went to an all wordpress platform that gives you access to the blog from within the site. So no more jumping around, hooray!

Because we did away with the landing page, a lot of info that could be reached we have now put into the footer of the site. So if you used the landing page to access your galleries or get to the blog. One of the most exciting new additions is the Client Log In section that brides and grooms can log in to access info and fill out forms.

Another big change is to the contact forms…there are now separate forms for contacting about wedding coverage and Family Sessions so I can better answer questions!

And for you social media guru’s, on the blog posts there are direct places to tweet or pin pictures!

So there are just a couple of my favorite things about the new site. Please feel free to share with me YOUR favorite new things.

Big thanks to Chris Borah (chrisborah.com) who had INCREDIBLE patience with all of my detailed requests, and did a fabulous job making my ideas come to life. And an overdue thanks to Nicole Black of The Left Handed Calligrapher who did my logo last year, and all of the beautiful calligraphy work that you see on the site.

PS We may have some growing pains with switching over to the new site, specifically with email, so if you have emailed me and haven’t heard back try again!

Liz & Adam; Dallas Wedding Photographers

Watching the forecast for the weekend, Ryan and I were keeping our fingers crossed that the rain would say away. And when we woke up Saturday morning, opened the curtains and were greeted by soft gray skies, I sighed. I always worry a little about my brides who have rainy days that they will be disappointed that the atmosphere doesn’t reflect the joy that they feel inside.

But I should have known better with sweet Liz. Ryan reminded me about her text from earlier that week: “When people complain about rain, what I hear is: “I hate hope, puppies, chocolate and music” #iloverain” And this is so consistent with the person that I spent many hours with in college, giggling and entertaining me with her whity  comments. Liz lives life like she loves it, and the rain wasn’t going to get her down because today she was marrying Adam. And nothing else could be better in her heart.

I loved this little detail…they had their guest write “Keys to a Happy Marriage.” Best father/daughter dance we have ever seen, by far. They broke out the hairbrushes and shook their booties. **love**

Sweet Liz, I that Adam has found you — to love you, and love him in return. xoxoely

Goodbyes and a Sneak Peek: Ely Fair, Oklahoma City Photographers

Lots of exciting things happening in the month of March! It’s officially my second day of full time photography (well, third if  you count that it is 2 in the morning on wednesday). It’s still doesn’t feel real yet…it seems like I’m just on a really long weekend. Last Friday my work threw a little going away shindig…I am starting to feel so nostalgic! My first job out of college, and I don’t think I could have asked for better people to work with. I honestly can say that I leave there having gained not only the skills to design and produce publications, but also with friendships that are meaningful and long lasting. I almost feel left out that I haven’t been able to go back into the office!

Oh, big green exclamation point and PMS 2925 blue dots, I will miss you. You have treated me well over the years.

So, for my first few days of ‘retirement’ (Ryan hates it when I call it my retirement…) we  have been preparing for Ryan’s little sisters wedding. Designing programs and signs, gathering all the camera gear, buying last minute presents and supplies. Oh, yes, and one trip to the mall to get an icee. Because we needed a pick me up because I am the maid of honor, designer AND we are photographing the wedding, too! So needless to say, we are quite the little headless chickens around here. But the wedding is going to be Legen….wait for it…dary.

But we also have a little side project I’ve been working on..here is a little sneak peek of what has been occupying loads of my time…coming to a computer screen near you in the next week or so! Fingers crossed!

Ellie turns one: Ely Fair, Tulsa Family Photographer

You know that I would be partial to a little girl names Ellie. :) Especially the youngest of three little girls, this is sounding more and more familiar…so obviously from the onset I had a big heart for this little one. And she is so cute.

Happy Birthday Ellie! xoxoely
